AFL Finals 2009 Week Two
September 8th 2009 02:37
So the Bombers and Blues are gone. The Bulldogs flopped, and Collingwood was choked to death.
I love September!
Let's turn our attention to week two of the AFL Finals Series for 2009:
Friday night, 7.45pm, MCG - WESTERN BULLDOGS vs BRISBANE LIONS
Brisbane coach Michael Voss has labelled his side the 'ugly ducklings' of the finals, transferring all the pressure to the Bulldogs, who were soundly beaten by Geelong on Saturday.
Bradshaw and Brown will pose many problems for the Bulldogs, and if they can kick 10 between them, the Dogs are in strife.
That said, I'm prepared to give the Bulldogs one more chance... Only one more, because if they flunk this game, it's goodnight to '09.
Brisbane to lead at quarter-time, Bulldogs to run out 23 point winners.
Saturday night, 7.30pm, MCG - COLLINGWOOD MAGPIES vs ADELAIDE CROWS
Potentially the match of the finals. Adelaide played half a game against a hapless Essendon last Friday night (yes, that long ago).
Given the low intensity of that game, the Crowsl effectively have a nine-day break.
Collingwood's bruising encounter on Sunday means the Magpies only have six days. The Pies lost Rocca (no big deal) and Pendlebury (a very big deal) in their Saints showdown.
I can't seperate these two teams. The extra long break, coupled with how well Adelaide play the MCG, put the Crows just on top for mine.
Collingwood seem ready for a straight sets exit.
Collingwood to lead by 12 points at half-time, extra time required to decided the game at full-time. Adelaide by 1 point.
