Lloyd suspended for bump on Sewell

Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd suspended for bump on Hawk Brad Sewell
Will that be the headline we hear all about on Tuesday or Wednesday?
The 2009 AFL Finals Series is upon us and the Bombers first birth in the final eight since 2004 may be marred by the suspension of skipper Matthew 'Sniper' Lloyd.
If you missed the bump and the brawl, check out the YouTube clip:
So what happened? Hawthorn was belting Essendon at half-time, all over the ground. During the break Bombers coach Matthew Knights dragged the Dons into the boardroom and laid down the law.
Did he mention something to Lloyd about his future at the club? We'll never know, but Lloyd's charge from the line and bump into Sewell changed the game.
It was the bump that sent the Bombers into the 2009 AFL Finals Series. Simple as that.
After the game, Campbell Brown launched a tirade of abuse at Lloyd while speaking live with radio station Triple M in the rooms.
"We hope Lloyd plays on next year, we'll remember that. He's one of the game's biggest snipers."
Then, an hour later on Channel 10 program Before The Game, Angus Monfries retaliated with his own verbal jab.
"Lloyd? Brown is one of the game's best snipers."
Plenty of fuel for the next Essendon vs Hawthorn fire!
But who will ever forget the famous 'Brawl of the Century'? It was the famous 'line in the sand' melee that Dermott had wished for:
- Glen Atwell
