AFL Draft and Trade week - your club!
October 10th 2007 00:44
DONE DEALS:
Martin Mattner (Adelaide) to Sydney for the Crows' second round pick.
Ben Hudson (Adelaide) to Western Bulldogs.
YOUR CLUB:
Adelaide: The Crows are trading players to improve their draft picks, obviously keen on adopting a younger list in 2007. Don't be surprised if a few more veterans depart.
Brisbane: May struggle to stop Rhan Hooper from going to Richmond.
Carlton: Confident it will seal the Chris Judd without involving Richmond.
Collingwood: Still on the trail of Brisbane's Cameron Wood. Prepared to trade pick 14 to get him.
Essendon: Desperately trying to offload Kepler Bradley. Obvious choice is to send him to West Coast or Fremantle, given WA is Bradley's home state. Little interest has been shown in hardnut Mark Johnson.
Fremantle: Have chatted to Essendon about Bradley, but aren't prepared to offer their first or second round picks (and who would? Bradley is s-t-ruggling at the moment).
Geelong: Martin Blake, who was dropped for the 2007 AFL Grand Final will stay with the Cats. Tim Callan, the VFL best and fairest for Geelong is going to the Western Bulldogs.
Hawthorn: Many have shown interest in star player Tim Boyle, but Hawks want a very high draft pick in return, and rightly so.
Kangaroos: Want Kepley Bradley from Essendon, but aren't confident they have enough to get him acorss the line (surely pick 231 would suffice?).
Melbourne: Travis Johnstone is returning from south-east Asia sooner than he expected, obviously he is aware of his trade-bait status. The Demons have created a storm with this one. Can't see him staying. Must go now. Is he that good anyway?
Port Adelaide: Not much happening on this front. Maybe still recovering after THAT defeat on the biggest stage.
Richmond: Keep hearing that the Tigers are making a play for Judd, or are they just trying to screw Carlton? I would suggest the latter. Who would want a player who doesn't want to be there?
St Kilda: Adam Schneider from Sydney is on the Saints must-have list.
Sydney: Jude Bolton, Amon Buchanan and Schneider are all up for grabs.
West Coast: Chris Judd flies into Melbourne today after Chris Mainwaring's funeral to continue talks and discussion, though I can't imagine his role being too hands on.
Western Bulldogs: Hudson is a big get for the Dogs. Will be the new number one ruckman. Must find a replacement for Chris Grant though. Did anyone forget he retired? That's right, no James Hird fanfare afforded to the man that has played with the Bulldogs for 18 years!
