It seems like only yesterday that the Australian Open 2007 fired into action at Melbourne Park. Actually it seems like about a year ago... Anyway!
Here are some tips for those interested in backing a winner of laying a loser (god bless Betfair!).
Men's Draw:
LAY Lleyton Hewitt - Nothing against our local champ, but Hewy is past his best and can't go past the third round. Local support means he is a cheap LAY option on Betfair.
BACK Roger Federer - The Fed Express will roll on. As certain as the sun will rise tomorrow. No doubt. Federer to win the men's draw of the Australian Open 2008. Back him BEFORE he shortens under $1.60. Nadal who?
LAY Carlos Moya - I would expand here but he is one set down against Kuebec in the first round, so I'll save my fingers and your precious time.
Women's Draw:
BACK Serena Williams to make the final - I can't see the new trim and terrific Serena not progressing to the final. She is always shaky early, but is a fast improver on the rebound ace.
LAY Venus Williams - Gone are the days when both the Williams' sisters fire. Anyway, it's Serena's turn if you get what I mean. Cough match-fixing cough.
