Barry Hall suspended by Sydney Swans
July 7th 2008 05:38
The Sydney Swans have suspended Barry Hall indefinitely after the club's psychologist ordered him to have a stint on the sidelines.
Newspapers around Australia reported the following:
SYDNEY Swans hardman Barry Hall has been sidelined indefinitely on the orders of the club's psychologist.
"Hally won't play this week - I'm not sure how long before he'll play again," Swans coach Paul Roos told a media conference this afternoon, the Daily Telegraph reports.
"He put it on the agenda that he was working on some personal issues during that first seven or eight weeks (of an earlier suspension)," Roos said.
"The unfortunate side of it is that he hasn't beeen able to over come those issues.
"I'm not sure when he'll play again," Roos said.
"That won't be determined by me, but he is working with Grant (Brecht, the team psychologist)."
Hall would have missed this weekend's game anyway after accepting a one-match suspension for attempted striking.
Hall was charged by the match review panel for an attempted hit on Magpie Shane Wakelin during the second quarter of the Swans' loss on Saturday night.
Due to carryover points and a 50 per cent loading because of his previous poor record, he was given a two-match ban which was reduced to one with a guilty plea.
Hall was playing in just his third game back after serving a seven-match suspension for hitting Eagle Brent Staker behind the play earlier this year.
Will Hall play again this year, or has the big burly full-forward been removed from the game forever?
