Coach K May Violated NCAA Rules
July 30th 2011 21:25
The Duke Blue Devil basketball head coach, Mike Krzyzewski, may have violated one of NCAA rules when he reportedly offered a scholarship to Alex Poythress, a member on coach K's AAu team, the Georgia Stars. The forward, Poythress told CBSSports that coach K spoke to him earlier this week while he was in Orlando, Florida, for a tournament. The NCAA rules prevent coaches from contacting recuits before they are finished playing tournaments. Duke spokesman, Jon Jackson, said in a statement that the school is gathering facts and that “proper adherence to NCAA bylaws has always been, and will continue to be, a cornerstone of Duke Athletics,” on Saturday. Poythress is considered one of the top high school seniors in the nation. He is a 6 foot 7 inches forward from Clarksville, Tennessee.
