Craig Gower arrested after nightclub brawl

Craig Gower is set to become the second League player in a month to be charged by police following the Penrith co-captain's participation in a nightclub brawl during February.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Gower is set to be the only person charged with assault for his part in the brawl, which involved several associates of the Penrith man.
The brawl, which took place in the early hours of February 11, apparently began after another patron refused to sip from a drink offered to him by Gower, with the Penrith skipper allegedly then crash tackling the 19-year old man to the ground.
Penrith officials had previously declared that Gower would have nothing to worry about from the brawl, yet video footage of the incident from the Kings Cross' nightclub apparently paints a different picture, with police set to charge the 28-year old.
Gower's arrest comes hot on the heels of another Penrith player, Frank Pritchard, being charged with affray after being involved in a brawl last month, while new League club, the Gold Coast Titans, already has problems on its hands with Anthony Laffranchi set to face court over sexual assault charges.
Despite the two players being arrested, 2003 Premiership skipper Gower, will not be stripped of the captaincy at this time, despite that being a suspended punishment inflicted on him by the club following a drunken pre-season brawl last year.
