Gregan tempted by French club Toulon

Wallabies skipper George Gregan is the latest star name to be enticed by French big-spenders Toulon.
Brumbies halfback Gregan, the world's most-capped player, has followed in the footsteps of former New Zealand captain Tana Umaga by signing a short-term deal with the ambitious Pro D 2 side.
The 34-year-old is set to earn around 400,000 euros ($700,000) for the six months he is at Toulon - from November 1 to April 30. He will link up with his new team-mates after the World Cup.
Club president Mourad Boudjellal, a local businessman who has made his fortune through the comic-strip business, is bank-rolling the move, just as he did when he paid Umaga's wages in the three months the Kiwi spent at Toulon around the turn of the year.
"It is an enormous new coup for Mourad Boudjellal to attract this talented number nine," read a statement on Toulon's official website, www.rctoulon.com.
"George Gregan, the scrum-half of the Wallabies, the world's record cap-holder and world champion in 1999, is joining Toulon for the 2007-08 season."
Gregan, who has played 127 times for the Wallabies - captaining the team 54 times, is currently in his 11th season with the Brumbies.
He is set to quit international rugby after the World Cup.
