Collingwood: Heath Shaw, Alan Didak suspended
August 5th 2008 05:18
HEATH Shaw and Alan Didak will not play another AFL game in 2008.
Moments ago, Collingwood told a packed press conference at the Lexus Centre that Shaw and Didak would be fined and banned from the field until next season.
Shaw copped $10,000 in fines. Didak escaped with a $5,000 hit to the hip pocket.
Yesterday, Shaw told Magpie staff that Didak was not in his car when it crashed into two parked cars on Sunday night.
Shaw blew almost three times over the limit when police arrived. Shaw's explanation was accepted by the club but he later admitted Didak had been in the car.
Club chief executive Gary Pert said today that the pair only came clean when the evidence against them became overwhelming.

Not sure if he would have wanted them suspended? Probably... What if they miss eight now???

The club has dropped the ball on this one more times than Kepler Bradley stuffed up on field while playing at Essendon.
Gotta feel sorry for Burns and co in the leadership group - they seem to have little power when it comes down to internal discpline and are made to look like fools for it.

i agree dat lieing was a bad idea but he should be given another chnace ;; brendon fevola was given many chances for drinking
alan didak is our best forward playerr and is a reliable goal kicker for our team and i dont think that he should be sacked or be up for trade
if we lose alan didak then there will be not as much run in our midfield. Alan Didak has had most kicks and second most disposals in the team.
i think he is a too good a player to be sacked
go alan didak

you may lose run in the midfield, but honesty and integrity will go through the roof!!

'no drinking six days before the game'
'no going out after 11pm'
'don't drink while injured'
it goes without saying that heath shaw should not have been drink-driving, but it was the constrictive clauses in their contracts that led them into hot water in the first place.
didak and shaw should both be playing AFL, but does the club come before the player?
