Sri Lanka crushes Trinidad & Tobago

A brutal century by opener Sanath Jayasuriya followed by a dismal effort with the bat by Bangladesh has given Sri Lanka a crushing 206-run victory in the Group B World Cup match in Trinidad and Tobago.
Jayasuriya returned after retiring hurt due to cramp to complete a powerful 109 off 87 balls to thrust Sri Lanka to 4-318 from its 50 overs before its bowlers dismantled the Bangladesh line-up for 112.
Jayasuriya received strong support from skipper Mahela Jayawardene, who made 46, and Kumar Sangakkara, who smashed 56 off 55 balls, before Chamara Silva finished the innings off with a whirlwind unbeaten 52.
In reply, the Tigers, who upset India earlier in the tournament, never threatened Sri Lanka's total, losing a steady stream of wickets. Paceman Lasith Malinga did the damage with 3-27 from his six overs, including two wickets with the new ball.
Jayasuriya had smashed 83 of Sri Lanka's 137 when cramp forced him off the first after 25 overs, but in his absence Jayawardene and Sangakkara steered the 1996 champion beyond 200 inside 36 overs.
