Brisbane centre Mark Bradtke, regarded as the best big man in the history of the National Basketball League, has announced his retirement after a stellar 20-year career.
The NBL's all-time leading rebounder and a three-time championship winner, 38-year-old Bradtke's last game was in the Bullets' victory over his former club Melbourne to clinch the title in game four of the grand final series earlier this month.
Bradtke's career included championships alongside Andrew Gaze with the Tigers in 1993 and 1997, four Olympic Games between 1988-2000 and a season with Philadelphia in the United States NBA.
The 209cm centre appeared in 554 career NBL games with Adelaide (1988-92), Melbourne (1993-2005) and Brisbane (2006-07), fourth on the all-time list.
After returning from Las Vegas, where he celebrated his latest title with his Bullets teammates, Bradtke knew it was time to quit.
"The decision really had to be made quickly once the season was over as the Bullets have to get into their recruiting for next year," Bradtke said.
