The Cardinals' first baseman, Albert Pujols is showing significant improvement and could return back to the St. Louis Cardinals on July 15 if not sooner, which is after the all-star break. Pujols had a CT scan taken on Friday. It revealed that the fissure on the distal tip of Pujols' left radius to be crushed. Another exam is scheduled for Monday. Tony La Russa, the Cardinals' manager, said “He (Pujols) got the test and he's working. I'm just really pleased with a lot of good news on that front.” Albert Pujols has been able to return quickly from his two other stints. He was out from June 4-21, 2006, with a strained right oblique and was sidelined on June 11-25, 2008, with a left calf strain. Pujols was placed on a 15 disabled list on June 20. He was batting .279, which was 50 points lower than his career average; was among the league leaders in home runs and RBIs, 17 and 45, respectively. La Russa said, “His conditioning. He really works hard at keeping himself in shape. He's just a very tough guy.” Pujols is set to be a free agent at the end of the season. He cut off talks on a long term contract extension with the Cardinals at the start of spring training.
