Today, Roy McIlroy sets a new record for 36 holes. He shot 6 under 65 yesterday and today Roy shoots 5 under 66 after two rounds of golf. Roy McIlroy shoots 131 shots with 11 under in total. This is the best score a golfer has shot in the U.S. Open's 111 year history. Roy McIlroy breaks Ricky Barnes' record that he set in 2009 after two rounds. Barnes shot an 8 under with 132 shots at Bethpage, New York. Anyways, Roy McIlroy was at 13 under par with birdies at the 16 and 17 holes. This broke the record held by Tiger Woods and Gil Morgan for the lowest score at any point in the tournament's history. McIlroy missed the fairway on the 18th hole and hit his second shot into the lake left of the green. He made two bogeys to end the day with 11 under. Even with a rough ending, Roy McIlroy holds an 8 stroke lead over Y.E. Yang, who is in second place with 3 under. Yang has a 1:35 p.m. tee time.
