Rose Wins On MVP Night, While Lakers Falter Again

Coming off an improbable win in game one, the Atlanta Hawks shot 51 % from the field against the team with the best home record and the best defense, the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls had giving up 103 points to the Hawks. How did the Bulls respond in game two? The MVP, Derrick Rose, who was presented the award in front of the home crowd in the United Center, scored 25 points and had 10 assists, but he did commit eight turnovers. He took 27 shots, and only made 10 of them. The Bulls did get the win, which is what matters the most. The Hawks were led by Jeff Teague, who has started in the place of Kirk Hinrich, scored 21 points and had 0 turnovers. The Hawks shot 34% from the field tonight, while the Bulls shot 39%. The Bulls won the game, 86 to 73, which included a 9-2 run to end the game. Game three is Friday in Atlanta, where the hawks are 3-0 this postseason.
After not dishing one assist to his teammates in game one against the Dallas Mavericks, Kobe Bryant had three assists in this game to go along with his 23 points, as the Lakers lost to the Mavericks, 93 to 81. The Lakers are now down 2-0 in the series, and Phil Jackson is 2-5 in series when trailing 2-0, and coming back to win. Those two series wins were the 1993 conference finals, Bulls vs. Knicks, and the 2004 conference semifinals, Lakers vs. Spurs. The last time the Lakers lost two in a row in a series was the 2008 finals against the Celtics. Eventually, they lost that series, 4 to 2. Only six percent of teams who trailed in a series, 2-0, came back and won. Dirk Nowitzki, who had a game high of 24 points, led his team to victory. JJ Barea had 12 points and four assists for Dallas, and was clothes lined by Ron Artest with 24.4 seconds left in the game. The Lakers were frustrated, and nothing was going right. They went 7 for 20 in the final period, and made only 2 threes out of 20. I thought Rose going 1 for 8 on threes was bad last night, this is worse. The fans in the Staples Center started to boo the Lakers as they could not hit anything last night. Game three is Friday in Dallas, where the Maverick are 3-0 this postseason.
