Big news to come out of Round 9:
- Freo's Michael Johnson copped a 5 match suspension following being arrested with cocaine after the Round 8 match against Collingwood
- Western Bulldogs' Barry Hall finally snapped, putting North defender Scott Thomspon in a headlock after copping a sustained barrage of niggle and abuse.
- North Melbourne condemned by greats for their sustained assault on Barry Hall
- St Kilda begin slow recovery from 2 weeks of hell with big win out west
- MRP inconsistency exposed yet again with some very baffling decisions/non-decisions

- Essendon may be forced to leave Windy Hill due to an ongoing dispute with the Essendon Bowls Club
- Port Adelaide embarrass themselves on their 140th birthday celebration in conditions more suited to mud wrestling.
- RIchmond pick up their first win of the year under Damien Hardwick (practice matches don't count)
