Spring Racing Carnival: What Went Wrong (the rest)
December 12th 2006 02:33
Derby Day always goes under the radar.
For the past three years, and probably because it is the first day of the Flemington carnival, the media ignore the terrible transport problems and the fact that most people that attend wouldn’t know a mare from a filly (or is that philly?).
Because people don’t go to bed the night before the races with the mediated fear of God embedded in their brains, everyday fans wake up and say, “what a great day for the races, pack the dry biscuits, forget the sunscreen – let’s go”.
Wow! We finally got there - it's all out of my system now, I feel cleansed and renewed.
Don't get me wrong though, I love the Spring Racing Carnival: warts and all. It's just sometimes you need to vent. You know, blow some steam!
Go on try it! It's fun.
