Tony Lockett Toyota Commercial
May 30th 2007 09:34
Today the Sport Talk Highlight Reel steps away from the on-field antics of the AFL and shines the spotlight on the television media.
Tony Lockett was a prolific goal kicker, but after his 2002 mid-season retirement, 'Plugger' all but disappeared from the planet!
That was until Toyota snaffled Lockett for one of its 'Legendary Moments' commercials. I still don't know how Toyota managed to get Lockett to sign on the dotted line, but they did, and Toyota produced the goods with its best effort yet.
Take a look:
The singing of 'There's Only One Tony Lockett' - complete with dancing, and the anticipated "key change" from Stephen Curry, would put a smile on the dial of even a death row prisoner. You can't help but be seduced by the comical antics taking on the brute force of Plugger!
Tony Lockett (born in Ballarat on March 9, 1966) is the highest goal scorer in the history of the VFL/AFL with 1,360 goals in a career of 281.
Lockett played with St Kilda, and made a failed comeback with Sydney.
Lockett is the only full-forward ever to win the coveted Brownlow Medal, in 1987, a season in which he was decorated with several honours. He is a four-time Coleman Medallist and a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Locket has kicked more than 100 goals in a season on six occasions.
There is only one, Tony Locket.
