Woods is Done After Nine Holes
May 12th 2011 16:22
Today is the first round of the Players Championship. So far, things were looking bad for Tiger Woods, who is the number eight golfer in the world. He was four over par after four holes of golf, including bogeying his first hole, and triple bogeying his fourth. Woods hasn't won in 18 months or 21 tournaments, dating all the way back to November's 2009 Australian Masters. He was a 14-1 favorite to win the Players Championship. In the tournament, Woods played so bad that he withdrew from the tourney after nine holes. Well, he withdrew due to multiple injuries: Knee and Achilles. This was the second year in a row that he withdrew from a PGA event; this was his fourth time in his career that he left a tournament after starting it. Woods had four knee operations after he won the 2008 U.S. Open. This morning Woods felt okay to play, but he knee was acting up when he played. Tiger finished with 6 over 42. He was 5 over after five hole at one point during the tournament. The 42 was not the worst he had done in his career. Woods shot a 43 through nine holes at Quail Hollow last year, and a 43 on nine holes at Bay Hill in '07. He had shot 43 four times in his 15 year career.
